Rossett News Update - 8 November 2019

American Exchange

Last weekend Rossett students who took part in the American Exchange trip to Falmouth, Maine returned home to their families after a wonderful and extremely busy trip state-side.  The last week of their visit included a Hallowe'en trip to Salem, learning about the historic Witch Trials; sightseeing and exploring in downtown Boston with shopping and a Duck Boat Tour; a guided tour of the prestigious Harvard University and a tour of the historic Boston Freedom Trail learning all about the origins of the USA.  Before they left Falmouth Middle School, Mr Halliwell and Mrs Grimshaw, who accompanied the students on the trip, presented the school with the Harrogate edition Monopoly board game for the Falmouth students to enjoy.  Our students were  a credit to our school, and their parents, throughout the trip and have brought home many memories of a fantastic visit.

PoppyRemembrance Day

On Monday 11 November the whole school will join together to mark Armistice Day with the playing of the Last Post followed by a two-minute silence and ending with the 'Reveille'.  Throughout the week we will be holding assemblies to remind students that the freedoms we enjoy today are as a result of the sacrifices made by those we remember at this time of year.  The school recognises the importance of passing this message on to our students to ensure they understand the significance of Remembrance, as we expect them to carry this responsibility into the future.  Well done to our Year 8 students who have been selling poppies during Form Time throughout this week raising funds for the Royal British Legion.

Presentation Evening

To recognise the exam success of last year's Year 11 we will be holding our annual Presentation Evening on 28th November 2019. Invitations have been sent out, before half term, to invite last year's Year 11s and their guests to a celebration reception followed by the presentation of certificates and we look forward to celebrating their success with them.   Students have been asked to register on line to reserve their seats by Tuesday 19th November 2019:  https://www.rossettschool.co.uk/latest/presentation-evening-28-november-2019/

PudseyChildren in Need - Friday 15 November

BBC Children in Need returns to Rossett next week!  On Friday 15 November students will be joining in with this national charity in our non-uniform day with a suggested donation to the charity of £2.  Children in Need raises money for disadvantaged children across the UK and we would like to make this year our best fundraising total to date - the more students who donate or who take part in activities, the more we will raise!  Thank you in advance for your support.

Rossett School PTA - Forthcoming Events

The PTA will be  organising two events over the next few months-  the Year 7 Disco (December) and the PTA Quiz Night (February). Both have been extremely popular in the past and are great fun for all involved. Exact dates are still to be confirmed, however for these events to go ahead, we will need some parent helpers. Can you help? All it requires is a few hours on the evening to assist, either selling items/serving drinks at the disco or distributing fish and chips at the quiz. This is a great way for you to get involved with other parent helpers at the school and also work alongside some of the staff and Sixth Form and experience the great community spirit that exists.

Please get in touch using one of the methods below, we would love for you to be able to help us out with these events.

 The PTA can be contacted via Facebook : rossettschoolpta , Twitter : @RossettPTA , email : info@rossettpta.co.uk
