Rossett News Update -  16 January 2023

Welcome back and a Happy New Year to all parents and students from all the staff at Rossett School

Uniform

Thank you to parents/carers for ensuring the return to school in correct uniform.  We have seen an  improvement in the number of our students who arrive at school properly dressed for the school day.  It is extremely important that this continues as it communicates a sense of pride in being a Rossett student and builds on our  strong sense of community.

For the very small minority of students who are still not wearing correct uniform we will be in touch with parents/carers directly to rectify this as soon as possible.  Should you need financial support in order to obtain the correct uniform for your child, please contact ipeat@rossettschool.co.uk who can discuss ways in which we can help.

This improvement is a great example of what we can achieve when we work collaboratively as parents/students and staff.

NB: We have noticed that a number of students arrive at school without a winter coat.  We would strongly suggest that these are brought into school so that students feel comfortable outside at social times during this winter period.

Year 11 Parents' Evening

Year 11 Parents are invited to our second Parents' Evening of the year on Thursday 12 January. During this time staff will be able to inform parents/carers how their child performed in the Year 11 mock exams, and discuss what measures need to be taken from this point to maximise results in the end of Year 11 summer exam series. Where relevant this may include discussions around the tier of entry ( Foundation or Higher ) in some subjects or how course work is progressing. The evening will be remote so we hope all parents will be able to log in from home.

Year 7 Disco

Our Year 7 students enjoyed a great night at the Year 7 Disco on Thursday 15 December.  Arranged by the PTA the students were entertained by DJ Dent, a former student, and had a hot dog supper and sweets from the tuck shop to follow.  Supervised by the PTA and our Year 7 team the students had a fun evening at the end of a busy first term at Rossett.  Thank you to the PTA for organising this annual event for our students.

Design and Technology Competition Winners

Last year a group of Rossett Design and Technology students entered a competition to design a product for the future.  The 'Clever Association' competition was open to local schools in the Harrogate and Knaresborough district and Rossett School won all three prizes!
