Key Stage 3 End-of-Year Assessments (Years 7-9)

Year 7-9 students will have end-of-year assessments between June 10th and 28th. These assessments will assess a range of skills and or knowledge that have been taught over the course of the year, which are important for progression onto the next stage of the curriculum. The assessments will also allow teachers to establish any gaps in knowledge/skills that have arisen so that future teaching can be adapted accordingly. Although your child will have been assessed periodically over the course of the year, these assessments will help to establish whether the core knowledge/skills have been retained over time.

What to expect:

  • Information about the assessments sent as a letter to your email
  • Revision resources will be available on Teams for students.
  • Teachers will guide students on what and how to prepare.

Outcomes: We'll use these assessments, along with other classwork, to determine student progress by July. You'll receive a report with this information.

Questions: Contact Mrs. H Thompson (Assistant Headteacher) at ThompsonH@rs.rklt.co.uk.

Year 10 End of Year Assessments

Our Year 10 end of year assessments will take place between Monday 1st and Thursday 4th July  (NB: some assessments may take place other side of this week due to the training day on Friday).   The assessments will cover the GCSE content covered so far this year.

The assessments for all core subjects (English, Maths and Science) and some option subjects will take place in the Sports Hall in order to provide students experience of this environment prior to their mock exams next year.  The remaining option subjects' assessments will take place in classrooms in normal lesson time during this period.   A letter with further details and the assessment timetable will be sent after half term. Revision materials will be placed on Teams and guidance will be provided by teachers in lessons in advance of lessons. Students who would like to begin preparing sooner can find revision materials and guidance on the Rossett Website, Rossett School - GCSE Support and Guidance  for all of their subjects.

Personal Development

Our Year 8 Personal Development groups have been working on a British values project focusing specifically on individual liberty. For the last four lessons they have researched the importance of upholding British Values and looking at scenarios whereby individual liberty is not upheld. They have learnt about county lines and modern slavery and researched other countries where individual liberty is not valued. This week, after four lessons of project work, they have presented their projects to other students and staff. Here is a selection of work from Mrs Buxey's and Miss Taswell's group.

New Pasta Machine

The food team would like to thank the PTA for their gift of a 'high tech' pasta machine for use in GCSE lessons.  Today some of our year 11 students experimented with making penne pasta from a selection of different ingredients in their last practical lesson before the exams.  The students thoroughly enjoyed experimenting with this amazing piece of equipment.

We look forward to using the pasta machine to enhance practical products across our KS4 and 5 courses in the coming year.

Thank you, Rossett PTA.
