Rossett News Update - 24 January 2020
Sixth Form Listeners Award
Our most recent group of Sixth Form Listeners 'graduated' this week following a presentation of certificates by Ms Woodcock. The group of 28 students have now qualified as peer mentors after a rigorous selection process and months of training. From their experiences in the first days of this year helping Year 7 students find their way around the school - they have now graduated to offering counselling and support to our students of all ages, in all years. Each student is linked to a specific tutor group in the year team.
Year 7 Sponsored Zumba
More than 200 Year 7 students took to the dancefloor for a Zumba session on Wednesday and were sponsored by fellow students, staff, family and friends. With additional funds raised last week from a Cake Bake and creative craft activities we expect to have raised well over £1,000 for the international charity Lepra.
Students heard about Lepra's work in a special assembly last week and were keen to make a difference to sufferers of the disease around the world. Many in the year group thought of additional ways to raise money such as undertaking sponsored silences and bike rides. Mrs Grabham (DoL for Year 7) led the exercise dance event with tutors, Ms Woodcock and the Senior Team joining in the fun on the day.
