Rotary Club Young Chef Competition

On Wednesday evening Miss Parker was delighted to accompany Hannah Scurrah and Ammarah Kaleem as they represented Rossett School in the Rotary Club Young Chef Competition, hosted by Harrogate Grammar School.

Both students cooked up a storm in the two hour competition to produce some amazing dishes.  They approached the competition with a level of skill and enthusiasm which was recognised by the judges as outstanding, with positive comments linked to the complexity of work that they produced on the night.

The competition was judged by local celebrity chef Stephanie Moon who commented on the level of skill and accuracy in the dishes and named Ammarah's biryani as the dish of the day and told Hannah that she had a great future in the food industry.  She urged both girls to continue cooking and competing as they were destined for great things.

We are exceptionally proud of the girls efforts.

PTA Quiz Night Success

We had a fantastic night at the PTA Quiz  last Friday with over 100 parents, staff and students taking part to raise vital funds  for the PTA .  The money raised on the night is intended to fund a resuscitation doll for our first aid lessons and will also be useful as part of our babysitting course.

The winning team consisted of four students and two dads – well done  to the 'Acaster' team!  We look forward to you playing again next year. We would like to thank our supportive  parents, in particular Claire Cairns who is the Chair of the PTA and worked hard to organise the event. Thanks also to our ever-popular quizmaster, James Lee and his quiz staff for a great night.

We also ask if you are able to support the PTA please email. RSPTA@rs.rklt.co.uk.

Year 11 GCSE Parents' Information Evening

Thank you to everyone who came to the Exams Information Evening last night.  It was great to see so many of you there, supporting your children as they near their GCSE exams.

If you were unable to make it on the night, we have emailed all parents/carers of Year 11 students an information sheet summarising the main points (including study leave arrangements) and also a copy of the master exams timetable.

The full presentation can be found our website here: Rossett School - GCSE Support and Guidance along with lots of other helpful information about revision and the exams.

Languages Club

Members of the languages club were delighted to transform an MFL classroom into a continental café on Tuesday. The students then interviewed  Rossett members of staff in Spanish and French with such confidence for the magazine they are producing this year.

Who knew Mr Elcock, Miss Bettison, Mr Rogerson, Miss Thorpe-Greenwood, Mr Otway, and Mrs Scholes were so fluent in French or Spanish? Mr Golding and Mr Milburn even answered questions in both languages! It was lovely to feel transported abroad for this event and to hear our students communicating with such skill and enthusiasm.

School Production Merchandise

Staff and students are currently working hard rehearsing for our school production which, this year, is High School Musical JR.  We are all looking forward to seeing how this wonderful performance comes together with our talented students.

If your child is taking park in any aspect of the performance they have the opportunity to purchase a show t-shirt or hoodie that can be worn for rehearsals and in the run up to the summer performances.  Click here for the letter with further details.

Fantastic Fundraising

Our fantastic First Aid Team have been fundraising for UNICEF UK over the last few weeks and have been asking for donations for their Easter raffle.  Winners were chosen on Thursday and staff and students were the recipients of some fantastic Easter prizes including an array of chocolate treats and Easter themed cuddly toys.

Our thanks go to everyone on the team who have helped raise £243 which will go towards helping the children of the Gaza conflict.
