Rossett News Update - 1 December 2022
Reminder: Staff Training Day
Tomorrow, Friday 2 December, is a Staff Training Day and no students will be in school.
Year 11s
We are incredibly proud of our Year 11 students who have shown real resilience, reflectiveness and responsibility this week during their mock exams. It has been a long week for them, and we hope they get a chance to recharge over this long weekend. The results of these assessments will be shared with parents/carers and students after the Christmas holiday.
Sixth Form News...
On Monday 5 or Thursday 8 December 2022, all Year 11 students will have a Progression/Sixth Form interview with a member of the Sixth Form Team or a member of our Senior Leadership Team.
Students who wish to attend Rossett Sixth Form from September 2023, but who have not yet applied, need to do so before Monday. The application form is on the website: Rossett School - Application Forms . If you have any further questions please contact Mr Keyworth rkeyworth@rossettschool.co.uk.
Soroptimist International - International 16 Days of Activism
Rossett Sixth Form students are supporting the Soroptimist International '16 Days of Activism campaign' by wearing orange today and spreading the message of ending violence against women and girls. Soroptimist International is a global volunteer movement who advocate for human rights and gender equality worldwide.
From 25 November to 10 December 2022, people from around the world are joining together to take action against gender-based violence. Rossett Sixth Form students Alice Loring and Pinky Kornlup have been working with Soroptimist International following their visit to Rossett Sixth Form in October.
Christmas Colours/Christmas Jumper Day: Thursday 8 December
We are, once again joining Save the Children in their fundraising by taking part in their Christmas jumper campaign. All students and staff are invited to wear a Christmas jumper, wear bright colours or decorate a 'normal' jumper on Thursday 8 December.
We usually ask for a £2 donation, and you will be able to donate either on-line this year, using your child's Scopay account, or students can hand in a cash donation to their tutor at the start of the school day; we know the charity will be very grateful for any donations, large or small.
Winter Warmer Concert: Thursday 8 December
A reminder that our 'Winter Warmer' concert takes place on Thursday 8 December with performances commencing at 6.45pm in our Main Hall. The concert will feature our extra-curricular music groups plus a range of solo and group items prepared by our students.
Tickets are available now and can be purchased online via SCOPAY. Adult tickets are priced at £4.00 which includes complimentary festive refreshments on arrival. Tickets for under 18s and concessions are priced at £2 each. Parents/Carers and performers should arrive at approximately 6.15pm and the evening will finish at approximately 8.15pm.
Reminder: Early finish on the last day of the Christmas term
We would like to remind you that, as always, Rossett School will finish the Christmas term early - this year on Friday 16 December at 2.10pm. There will be a change to the scheduled lessons on this day and all school buses will arrive at school and drop off one hour earlier.
