Rossett News Update - 9th January 2026

Happy New Year and Welcome Back!

Happy New Year to all our students and their families, and welcome back to school.

Following the parent survey that was carried out in the Autumn term, Mr Milburn is pleased to share feedback and key reflections in the below video:

Languages Club Epiphany Celebrations

This week in Languages Club, our students celebrated Epiphany with a French Galette des Rois, or King's Cake, complete with a hidden fève (this year, it was a little sheep!). This delectable bread commemorates the Three Wise Men. Following tradition, the youngest person there ducked under the table to decide which slice went to who...and Georgia found the fève, becoming queen for the day!

Mr Hernandez also shared how Epiphany is celebrated in his native Mexico. The Mexican King's Cake is known as Rosca de Reyes and is a symbol of festivity and cultural heritage. Our students enjoyed a lovely celebration of shared traditions across different cultures.

Careers Bulletin - Support for Year 11s

This week's Careers Bulletin focuses on post-16 options and contains lots of useful information on possible routes, course guides, application deadlines, open event dates, and links to further information. This is particularly relevant to our current Year 11 students, but also provides useful insight for all students, parents and carers about the options available once your child finishes Year 11.

Rossett Featured in the Yorkshire Rewilding Network Newsletter

We have been featured in the Yorkshire Rewilding Network's latest newsletter, recognising the Red Kite Rewilding Initiative's commitment to helping schools transform their grounds.

Since we began our own rewilding journey in 2023, the Rossett school grounds have been transformed through tree planting, relaxed mowing and the creation of new habitats. Students from every year group have taken part, helping to establish areas of long grass, hay meadow and newly planted trees. Last year even saw common spotted-orchids flowering on the front lawn, much to the delight of students and staff!

The work continued with further tree planting and the creation of a wildflower meadow, supported by volunteers from ENGIE and the Red Kite Rewilding Initiative. To read more, please click here

Important Safety Message

During the Christmas break, we became aware of children accessing the school site by climbing over locked gates at the Sports Centre entrance which presents a serious health and safety risk.

Rossett School grounds are private property and access is only permitted to authorised personnel or students taking part in supervised activities. We would be grateful if parents and carers could speak with their children about the importance of respecting school boundaries and keeping themselves safe. Thank you.
