Rossett School Celebrates Transformational Ofsted Report
We are proud to share the news that Rossett School has been rated ‘Good’ in all areas by Ofsted, marking a major milestone in the school’s improvement journey.
Inspectors visited the school on 1 and 2 April 2025 and judged Rossett as ‘Good’ across all five key inspection areas: Quality of Education, Behaviour and Attitudes, Personal Development, Leadership and Management, and Sixth Form Provision.
This follows the previous inspections in July 2019 and November 2022, where the school was judged to ‘Require Improvement’. Since then, Rossett has undergone rapid and sustained improvement under the leadership of Headteacher Mr Tim Milburn, who was appointed shortly after the last inspection, and since joining the Red Kite Learning Trust in September 2023.
Inspectors praised the school’s “happy, welcoming and inclusive” environment, where pupils “increasingly flourish in this calm and orderly learning environment.” The report reflects the ambition and strong sense of community that are now central to life at Rossett.
Among the highlights of the report:
-
Teaching and Learning. Teachers were recognised for their strong subject knowledge and their careful checks on pupils’ understanding, helping students make excellent progress through the curriculum.
-
Pastoral Care. The report notes that many pupils are thriving, with parents praising the “expert guidance and teaching” their children receive.
-
Culture and Values. Inspectors observed that “a culture of kindness and respect is the hallmark of everyday routines” and that Rossett is a school “that wants every pupil to belong and benefit fully.”
-
Support for All. Ofsted found that the school prioritises support for vulnerable pupils and helps all students to develop character traits that will benefit them in the future.
-
Staff Morale. Staff were described as “exceptionally proud to work at Rossett” and confident in the school’s leadership and direction.
Headteacher Mr Milburn commented, “I am absolutely delighted with this outcome for our community. It reflects the incredible hard work and commitment of our entire staff team as well as the support, guidance and expertise we have received from our Red Kite Learning Trust colleagues. I want to thank our students, families, and the wider school community for their trust and support as we’ve made these improvements together. This report validates what we already knew, that Rossett School is a place where every young person can thrive and where success is for everyone.”
Erica Hiorns, Director of Secondary Education at Red Kite Learning Trust, added, “This is a fantastic achievement for Rossett School and a testament to the impact of strong, values-led leadership and a united school community. The progress made since the last inspection has been transformational. We are proud to see Ofsted recognise the culture of care, ambition, and high standards that now defines the school.”
To continue our open dialogue with families and our local community, we willl will be holding a Parent Forum on Thursday 22 May to discuss the Ofsted report and the school’s next steps.
