Rossett News Update - 3rd October 2025

Bumper Open Morning

A big thank you to everyone who came along to our Open Event on Saturday, we had a bumper morning with around 350 families visiting.

We loved seeing everyone get involved and join in the activities, including Mr Milburn and Miss Mooney, who looked right at home in the Rossett school uniform!

For Year 6 parents and carers who missed the event on Saturday or who would like another look around our school, we are pleased to invite them to join a school tour on Wednesday 15th October, places can be booked here

Twenty's Plenty

Last week marked the launch of the new 20mph scheme across 200 streets in southwest Harrogate.

Mr Milburn joined councillors, residents and students from local schools to celebrate the launch, along with former Rossett student, David Skaith, Mayor of York & North Yorkshire!

We look forward to Phase 2 which will bring safer streets around our school, Rossett Acre Primary School, Harrogate Grammar School, Ashville College, Western Primary School and the wider community.

Elite Skills Event

Earlier this week, our Year 10s took part in the Army's Elite Skills Event.

The day began with a careers presentation, giving students insight into opportunities within the British Army. This was followed by a practical workshop where they explored the Army's core values and skills through hands-on activities that develop teamwork, problem-solving and communication.

It was a great opportunity for our students to learn, challenge themselves and develop key life skills.

Congratulations Olly!

Last week we reported that Oliver B in Year 13 had been selected for the U19 GB American Football Squad. At the weekend, he played his first international game representing Great Britain against Germany.

It was an intense match that ended 0-0 and we are incredibly proud of his dedication and achievement at this level. Well done Olly!

Careers Bulletin

This week's edition of the Careers Bulletin focuses on open events, a vital part of the journey for Year 11 students and Year 10 students with an EHCP as they begin exploring post-16 options. The bulletin is available here

Winter Support for Families

As we get closer to winter, we would like to remind families that there are a wide range of support services available across Harrogate to help with utility costs, food, clothing, wellbeing and more.

The North Yorkshire Citizens Advice & Law Centre provides free, confidential and impartial information and advice on a range of issues including money, benefits, housing and employment. For more details, please visit the website here

The Harrogate Easier Living Project (HELP) helps to support individuals to stay independent at home. Their services include befriending, travel support and help for home gardening, decorating or odd jobs. You can contact HELP here
