Sponsored Walk Update
The Sponsored Walk is fast approaching! Thanks to the generosity of our students and their families, we have already raised £600 for our charities:
- Horticap - supporting young people with learning disabilities
- New Beginnings - helping women and children affected by domestic abuse
Thank you to everyone who has donated or pledged so far!
Farewell Miss Rogers
Yesterday marked the end of an era for the Rossett First Aid Team as they said a fond farewell to Year 11 team members, Giovanni and Mack, who were valued members of the team and will be truly missed.
It was also time to say goodbye to Miss Rogers who has retired after 10 years at Rossett. We are very grateful for her dedication and commitment, she has inspired so many students with her passion for first aid and helping others. Thank you, Miss Rogers!
To finish the evening on a high, there was cake and a paper prom dress challenge!! Each team created a dress, came up with a name for their fashion house, and sent a model down the catwalk.
Best Dress & Accessories went to the Scurrah Fashion House. Best Model went to Tom (who owned the runway!).
Thank you to the whole team for their energy, enthusiasm and humour. Miss Rogers is going to miss you all and we know you will miss her too.
Good Luck to our Year 11s
Study leave for our Year 11 students started today - we wish them the best of luck with their revision and upcoming exams!
For all other year groups, we look forward to welcoming everyone back after half term. Enjoy a well-deserved rest.
Sensory Garden Restoration
The restoration of our sensory garden is just about complete! This special garden will once again offer a calming environment for both students and staff.
Thank you to all the staff and volunteers who have contributed to returning the garden to its former glory. Special thanks to Miss Mooney who organised the project and brought together a wonderful team of helpers to make it all happen. Thank you as well to Jewson Harrogate who donated several bags of gravel which we are very grateful for, they have transformed the space!
We will also be planting trees in memory of Rossett students who have passed away in recent years, to create a lasting tribute.
Interview with Harrogate Advertiser
We are proud to share that our Headteacher, Mr Milburn, has given an interview to the Harrogate Advertiser offering an inside look at our journey of recovery and improvement.
It's a great insight into the hard work and dedication happening behind the scenes at Rossett.

Supporting Mental Health Services at Rossett
On the evening of Friday 16th May, the Harrogate branch of Soroptimist International hosted a charity auction event to support mental health services at our school. The event took place in the Crown Hotel and was hosted by BBC TV personality and antiques guru, Caroline Hawley, and attended by Harrogate's charter mayor, Chris Aldred.
Caroline spoke about her career and gave expert advice on what is hot and what is not in the antiques market - hang on to all that old brown furniture, it’s coming back into fashion!!
The event was organised by Soroptimist President Sheila Ince and colleagues to raise money for a Just B counsellor. For the past year, Sheila has been working with determined energy with Just B and our school to support their work in providing mental health care and support for those young people who may be struggling.
The Soroptimists are an international organisation, founded in 1921, of women passionate about transforming the lives of women and girls through education, empowerment and enabling equal opportunities. The climax of the evening was a nail-biting auction of luxury prizes gifted by the local business community which raised hundreds of pounds. Mr Warren, Assistant Headteacher, was grateful to avoid being sold off as an old antique and an enjoyable evening was had by all.
We are very grateful for all the kind support of Sheila and the formidable Soroptimists in raising thousands of pounds in support of the work of Just B in school. Just B offers expert emotional wellbeing and bereavement support to children, young people and adults across the communities of North Yorkshire
Many Rossett pupils have benefitted from the caring support of Just B counsellors and the school is delighted that the charity work of the Soroptimists has helped to secure additional support.
Year 9 Boys' Cricket Team Victory
Well done to the Year 9 Boys' Cricket Team who had an impressive win against Ashville earlier this week in the T20 Cup. Ashville posted a strong total of 136 but with just 7 balls to spare, Rossett powered through to secure the winning runs.
Special mentions to Oli, Jake, Jacob and Max - their club-level experience and leadership on the pitch made a big impact.
And a huge shout-out to Harry who scored runs and took a catch, all without every having stepped on a wicket before. Ralph & Tyler also stepped up despite being new to cricket, showing great courage and team spirit in the face of a hardball and high pressure.
We're very proud of the team!
