We are holding a final open morning for Year 6 parents and carers on Tuesday 20th October from 9.30 to 10.30am. This is an opportunity to see our school in action, meet our staff and students, and find out how to be part of Rossett!

We have received a few enquiries asking whether next Friday, 23rd October, is a training day. As per the term dates on the school calendar, this is a normal school day for Rossett and all students are expected to attend school.
Today was Restart a Heart Day and we were very lucky to take part thanks to some amazing volunteers who gave up their time to teach our Year 7 students how to perform CPR.
Last year, bystanders intervened in over 1,900 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests across Yorkshire, helping to restart 643 hearts at the scene. These figures show just how important it is for people to know what to do in an emergency. And now 150 more young people know how to save a life!
A huge thank you to all the volunteers, including paramedics from the Yorkshire Ambulance Service who gave up their free time between shifts, nurses (one of whom had just finished a night shift!) and our very own Miss Rogers who used to work at Rossett!

Last Friday night's Bingo Night was a huge success, thank you to everyone came along and joined in! And a big thank you to our bingo caller, Mr Tatterton, and our lovely PTA for organising such a fun evening.
Up next is the Year 7 Disco on Thursday 12th November, the Wreath Making Night on Thursday 26th November and the Quiz Night on Friday 4th December...be sure to put those dates in your diary!

We are very pleased to announce that the Rossett Memorial Garden has been awarded Silver in the Harrogate in Bloom School Playground & Garden Awards 2026.
Thank you to all the green-fingered staff members who have helped transform the garden over the past 18 months. Special thanks must go to Miss Mooney, our project manager extraordinaire, who encouraged everyone to get involved!
The garden has become an extra teaching space, somewhere for students and staff to enjoy a bit of peace and quiet and a place to remember former students who have sadly passed away.
Well done and congratulations to everyone who has contributed to making the garden such a lovely place.

Our latest Artists of the Week are Miguel and Zach in Year 8 who have created some lovely drawings of our (award winning!) memorial garden.
Well done to both of them!

Our Languages Club students are continuing to work on their magazine with this year's focus on arts and crafts. On Tuesday, Mrs Clarkson was transported to Provence as the club got creative making lavender wands, or 'des fuseaux de lavande'.
Traditionally, lavender wands were used in the 18th century to perfume clothes and help repel moths and mites. They were also included in bridal trousseaus, symbolising love, happiness and good fortune. The tradition continues today with artisans (and Rossett students!) keeping the craft alive.
Today, Miss Rowe hosted the Harrogate and Craven Schools Cross Country event, welcoming students from 14 local schools.
Thank you to Miss Rowe for organising and to our student volunteers for helping to make the day a success!

Well done to all the students who received a Headteacher's Award this week and last week.
These students have been nominated by members of staff for exemplifying Rossett School's 5Rs culture of learning:

The nasal flu vaccinations for students in years 7 to 11 will take place on Tuesday 3rd November.
Vaccination UK, on behalf of the NHS, will be contacting families directly to provide further information and to obtain consent.
An additional date will be arranged later in November for any students who miss the initial session.
On Monday 19th October, the Wellbeing in Mind Team is running a free webinar aimed at young people and parents needing help and advice around supporting resilience.
Rossett Adult Learning is running a five week babysitting course designed to help young people develop the knowledge and practical skills needed to babysit safely and confidently. It's a great opportunity to gain certificates that can be shown to prospective babysitting clients.
The course will cover:
On successful completion, students will receive a St John Ambulance Part 1 First Aid and CPR certificate as well as a certificate in babysitting competency.
This is a weekly course starting on Monday 9th November, at 5.30pm, and the cost is £35. The first four sessions last 1.5 hours each and the final session lasts 2 hours.
