It's going to be a high-energy, fun-filled morning and we can't wait!
Sponsored Walk Update
The sponsored walk is now just two weeks away and we are thrilled to share that we've already raised over £1,800 which is a fantastic achievement!
A huge thank you for supporting your child's fundraising efforts. We are very grateful for your generosity and enthusiasm in helping raise money for these two important causes:
The Great Knaresborough Bed Race - A Message From Eleanor
Mark your calendars for the Great Knaresborough Bed Race happening this weekend on Saturday.
This lively, bonkers race, proudly sponsored by a variety of organisations and local running teams including the Knaresborough Lions, promises to be a fantastic day of fun and excitement.
Don't miss out on this unique Yorkshire event! Best of luck to all.
Thank you for the amazing support,
Eleanor E, Year 10
The Rossett Lads
A group of enthusiastic students made a name for themselves last weekend at the Harrogate Railway football tournament, entering under the team name, The Rossett Lads. The team was the brainchild of Toby and Charlie, who took the initiative to gather their friends to form a squad for the event.
With a mix of organisation, teamwork, and a dash of persuasive charm, Toby and Charlie pulled together a strong group of players who were eager to take on the challenge. Toby even prepared a full team sheet ahead of the day, and Ollie was appointed captain. Together with a parent, who kindly volunteered to coach the team for the day, they worked out positions, strategies, and substitutions.
Though they regularly play together at school, this was their first time entering a tournament as a team outside of school and they weren’t expecting much more than a fun day out. But The Rossett Lads went on to win the tournament of over 18 teams who entered!
Their coach praised the team, calling them “an absolute credit to themselves and, as they were using the school name, to Rossett as well.”
Congratulations to The Rossett Lads on their impressive win and for proudly representing our school in such a positive light.
CSI: Harrogate
Last Friday, a group of Year 7s were lucky enough to take part in a CSI-themed workshop, 'Kids, Spies and PIs', hosted by Harrogate International Festivals with support from Wild Foundations.
The students worked with a real-life CSI and crime author to create a crime scene before using investigative techniques to try and solve the crime!
Well done Eliza for donning the full forensic gear!
Celebrating a Medal-Winning Streak
Congratulations to Emily H in Year 8 who has been on a medal-winning streak in martial arts, earning awards in both kumite and kata. Her dedication and skill have truly stood out.
In recognition of her extracurricular success, she has received a Headteacher's Award. Well done Emily!
Getting Creative
This week, our language leaders have been working hard on their magazine themed around festivals and have brought that theme to life through the art of papel picado.
This traditional Mexican folk art involves layering tissue paper and cutting intricate designs that celebrate culture, life and memory. It is especially significant during the Day of the Dead festival in Spain and Spanish-speaking countries. These colourful creations adorn altars and streets, symbolising the fragility of life and honouring loved ones who have passed.
They had lots of fun and created a fabulous banner!
Hayfever Season Reminder
With hayfever season in full swing, please ensure that students have taken any necessary hayfever medication before coming to school.
Thank you for your support with this.
Headteacher's Awards
Well done to all the students who received a Headteacher's Award this week.
These students have been nominated by members of staff for exemplifying Rossett School's 5Rs culture of learning:
- Emilie C - Year 7
- Mimi X - Year 10
Thank You to F Bradley & Sons
We have received a wonderful donation of plants from F Bradley & Sons, based in Old Scriven near Knaresborough, for our newly transformed sensory garden.
Careers Bulletin - Applying to College
This week, the Careers Bulletin covers the process of applying to college. It is particularly relevant for students in Year 11 who have not yet applied to college, or whose application is not complete (there are several important steps).
All students who have applied to study at a Sixth Form can also make a parallel application to study at a college to give them options when they receive their results in August.
The bulletin is also useful for Year 10 students, who will need to make a decision on where they would like to apply early next year, and for all parents, carers and students who would like to understand the process.
Cycling Safety
We have noticed that some students have been cycling to school without wearing helmets. For their safety, we kindly ask that all students who cycle to school wear a helmet. Thank you.
HPV Vaccinations
Our Year 8 students are due to receive their HPV vaccinations in school on Thursday 19th June 2025. The HPV vaccination is for both boys and girls and is given in a single dose.
Thank you to everyone who has completed the online consent form to provide consent or otherwise.
