Rossett News Update - 12th September 2025
Open Day on Saturday 27th September
If you know a family currently choosing a secondary school, please spread the word about our upcoming Open Day on Saturday 27th December from 9.30am to 12.00pm.
This is a fantastic opportunity to see our school in action, meet staff and students, and hear from our Headteacher, Mr Milburn, at 10.00am and 11.00am.
Harrogate Parkrun Takeover
Thank you to everyone who has signed up so far for our second Harrogate Parkrun takeover on Saturday 20th September!
We look forward to seeing as many students as possible, wearing Rossett red, on the Stray at 9.00am.
If you would like to take part, please:
St Michael's Hospice Midnight Glow Walk
This year's Midnight Glow Walk is taking place TOMORROW at 10pm...and it starts and ends at our school!
Saint Michael’s is a local hospice care charity providing vital support to individuals and families affected by terminal illness across the Harrogate district and we know it is a cause that holds a special place in the heart of our community.
S1 and S3 Bus Diversions
Transdev have today advised that the S1 and S3 buses are on diversion and are currently starting at Penny Pot Lane, instead of Burley Avenue.
***All students who get the bus from Burley Avenue should now get the bus from Penny Pot Lane.***
Please Support Angharad's Half-Marathon Challenge
We are very proud of Angharad in Year 13 who will be running the Cardiff Half Marathon to raise money for CLAPA – the Cleft Lip and Palate Association.
This cause is very close to Angharad's heart, as she was born with a cleft palate and had an operation at just 9 months old. Angharad knows first-hand how important it is to have the right care and support, not only for those born with a cleft but also for their families.
By taking on this challenge, Angharad hopes to help others receive the same support that she did. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference.
PTA Annual General Meeting
Our PTA AGM will take place on Monday 15th September from 4to 5pm, here at school.
All parents and carers are invited to attend. We would love to see you there!
Student Leadership Council
Next week will see the re-launch of the Student Leadership Council.
Mr Grainger will speak to all year groups in assemblies throughout the week and encourage students to apply using the short application form. These will be available from Mr. Grainger, Pastoral Managers, and Student Reception from next week.
It is a great opportunity for students to get involved with the day-to-day running of the school, have their voice heard, and gain valuable experience as a student leader. Mr Grainger is looking forward to assembling a strong team for this academic year, so why not apply?

Winter Support for Families
As we get closer to winter, we would like to remind families that there are a wide range of support services available across Harrogate to help with utility costs, food, clothing, wellbeing and more. Each week over the next few weeks, we'll highlight different organisations in the area that offer support.
