Rossett News Update - 12th June 2026
Auction of Promises TONIGHT!
Tonight's the night! The Auction of Promises is finally here!
With 48 amazing lots ready to be bid on, and plenty of sealed bids already lined up, we can't wait. The evening is all about raising money for a new school minibus, something that our students desperately need so they can continue attending sporting fixtures, trips, educational competitions, community events and more.
Hopefully you've been tuning into Your Harrogate Radio every morning this week at 10.30am to hear Mr Milburn chatting about the auction and choosing a song each day. A big thank you to the team at Your Harrogate for their support in helping us spread the word about our event. Today's song choice was Chasing Rainbows by Shed Seven because there's always a pot of gold at the end of every rainbow...
If you haven't bought a ticket and would like to come along, please do, you can buy your ticket at the door! Just £5 per person including welcome drink, bidding paddle and raffle ticket.

Sponsored Walk 2026
Only 4 weeks to go until this year's sponsored walk on Friday 10th July when our students will walk a 12km route in and around Harrogate to raise funds towards our chosen charity, The Sibling Group, and the Rossett minibus campaign.

Battlefields Trip 2026
A group of our Year 8/9 students recently enjoyed a memorable History Battlefields trip to Belgium and France, visiting some of the most significant sites of the First World War.
Students explored the Ypres Salient and the Somme region, including Vancouver Corner, Tyne Cot Cemetery, Langemark Cemetery, Vimy Ridge, the Thiepval Memorial and Beaumont-Hamel. Several students also had the opportunity to visit family graves connected to their relatives.
The group attended the moving Menin Gate Ceremony, where Isobel, Elliot, Robert and Laura laid a wreath on behalf of the school. They also managed to squeeze in some bowling, shopping, waffles, ice cream and a visit to a chocolate factory!
A big thank you to all the staff who made the trip possible.

Don't Feed the Plants!
Rehearsals for our summer production of Little Shop of Horrors are well underway and tickets are now on sale on Arbor!
The performances are on Wednesday 1st and Thursday 2nd July at 6.30pm and tickets are £10 each. We can't wait!

Our latest Artist of the Week is Georgia in Year 8 who has created an impressive foam print of a bird's-eye view. Well done Georgia!

Incident in the Local Area
We have been made aware that a vehicle has been approaching young people in the local area during the evening. This has been reported to North Yorkshire Police.
This serves as a reminder to speak with children about personal safety when travelling to and from activities, meeting friends, or walking in the community, particularly during the evening.
We encourage students to remain aware of their surroundings, stay with friends where possible, and be vigilant if approached by anyone in a vehicle. Children should avoid engaging with strangers, move to a place of safety if they feel uncomfortable and contact a trusted adult immediately if they have any concerns.
We are sharing this information as a precaution and in the interests of keeping our school community informed.
Wake Up Wednesday: Sports Betting
This week's Wake Up Wednesday guide looks at sports betting. This is something that has become increasingly visible across apps, websites, social platforms and sports coverage, making it easier for young people to encounter gambling messages before they are old enough to take part legally.
