Rossett News Update - 10th October 2025
See Rossett in Action
Friday 31st October 2025 marks the closing date for September 2026 secondary school applications.
There is still time for Year 6 parents and carers to see our school in action on Wednesday 15th October at 9am.
Parent Survey
Following a successful 2024/25, we are committed to further improvement and building an even stronger connection between school and parents/carers. As part of this ongoing journey, we would greatly value your feedback and views about your experience with our school.
We are keen to hear what you think we are doing well, as well as any suggestions you may have for how we can do even better.
To make it as easy as possible, we have created a short survey for you to complete. The survey should only take a few minutes of your time, and your responses will be treated in confidence.
There is also an opportunity within the survey for you to ask any questions or share any additional comments you may have.
Bingo TONIGHT!
Thank you to everyone who has donated prizes for tonight's Bingo Night! Our staff PTA rep, Mrs Phelps, was very excited to receive an anonymous donation yesterday.
There's still time to get your tickets. The event starts at 7pm, hosted by the marvellous Mr Tatterton. There will be prizes galore, and sweets and soft drinks on sale (or BYO!). Tickets can be purchased on Arbor for just £5 per person, with every penny raised helping to support our school community.
Year 7 Music Workshop
This morning, a group of Year 7 students took part in an interactive percussion workshop hosted by Harrogate Festivals. Students had the opportunity to sing, experiment with unusual percussion instruments, and perform together as an ensemble.
Harrogate Town Football Academy Open Evening
Following the successful launch of our partnership with Harrogate Town AFC, they are hosting an Open Evening for the Football Academy on Thursday 6th November from 6 to 7.30pm here at Rossett.
This event will give students in Years 10, 11 and 12 (and their parents) the chance to find out more about the Academy, meet the coaches and teaching staff, and explore the facilities at our school.
Listen Up!
We're so pleased to share that Listen Up!, a book inspired by a poem written by our very own Imogen J in Year 11, has been named a finalist in the People's Book Prize! The book is a compilation of poems and lyrics by young people about county lines exploitation and knife crime.
Geography Field Trip to Hornsea
Yesterday, our A Level Geography students spent the day in Hornsea collecting primary data for their NEAs. Their investigations included measuring beach profiles, sediment sampling, assessing the impact of tourism and carrying out a clone town survey.
Let's hope the good weather continues for their second trip on Monday!
Year 11 Crime & Punishment Trip
Earlier this week, our Year 11 students visited Ripon Museums to support their GCSE History studies on crime and punishment.
They took part in a mock trial role play in the historic Courthouse, looked at early policing and poaching, and followed an enquiry-based trail through the Prison and Police Museum to learn about methods of punishment.
Strong Start for our Girls' Football Teams
Last week, our U14 and U13 girls' football teams kicked off the season with a very solid start.
Both teams faced tough opposition and although they didn't win, they showed fantastic resilience and teamwork.
Thank you to the King James and Fulford teams for travelling over and best of luck to them in the next round!
Restart a Heart Day
Did you know that starting CPR before the ambulance arrives can double or even triple someone's chance of survival?
On Thursday next week, our Year 7 students (along with over 40,000 other secondary school students!) will be taking part in the Yorkshire Ambulance Service's Restart a Heart Day to learn vital CPR skills.
To coincide with this, we will be holding a cake stall on the day to raise more funds for our Heart of the Community campaign - these funds will go towards maintaining our community defibrillators. Cake donations are very welcome! Please drop them into main reception, thank you!
PTA Wreathmaking Masterclass
Get into the festive spirit and join our PTA for a wreathmaking evening on Thursday 11th December at 6.30pm.
Tickets are just £30 per person and include all you need to make a fabulous festive wreath, mince pies, and hot chocolate or mulled wine.
Book your place on Arbor whilst you can!
