Sue Wight

Sue is a Trust Director of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Safeguarding, with over 23 years of dedicated experience in education. Her career encompasses significant roles in Early Years, primary education, specialist provision, and secondary education, with a particular focus on SEN.

Beginning her journey in Early Years and primary education, Sue established a comprehensive understanding of effective teaching practices. Her expertise expanded as she transitioned into specialist provision, where she addressed the unique needs of students, especially those related to social, emotional, and mental health. As the leader of an Outreach Service across Kirklees, she provided essential support to schools, fostering inclusive practices and ensuring that all students received the quality education they deserved.

Sue's formal qualifications include National Professional Qualifications in Headship and Executive Leadership, alongside the National Award in Special Educational Needs. As a Team Teach trainer and Safeguarding instructor, she equips educators with vital skills to manage challenging behaviours and uphold safe environments for learning.

Sue assesses schools for the Inclusion Quality Mark, promoting effective inclusive practices within educational institutions. Her leadership and commitment have earned her recognition as a Specialist Leader in Education for SEN in 2012, showcasing her impact on the educational landscape.

Additionally, Sue evaluates candidates for the National Professional Qualifications in Special Needs and Senior Leadership at Newcastle University, ensuring that future educational leaders are prepared to meet the challenges of inclusivity.
