Gill Payne
Gill moved to Harrogate with her husband in November 2024 primarily to be closer to family.
She ran her own training company for 33 years specialising in training Trainers, Assessors, Internal Quality Assurers and managers involved in workplace development. Her work also included helping companies to develop and implement Competence Management Systems and managing contracts and contractors. Qualifications were offered via City and Guilds and the Institute of Leadership and Management.
A lot of the work was carried out within the power supply industry and gas industries and this took her to many countries in addition to working across the UK and Ireland.
In recent years, Gill volunteered as an Employment Advisor with a secondary school in North Lincolnshire. The aim of this role was to help to school to develop its careers strategy. As part of this, she worked with senior managers within the school to arrange their first and subsequent Careers Fairs.
Year 10 and 11 students were also interviewed to prepare them for the world beyond school. She was able to call upon some of the companies that she worked with to help in this vital task.
Gill was also a Governor in a primary school in North Lincolnshire which she enjoyed very much. She developed a Governor Induction Programme which has been adopted in several schools in North Lincolnshire.
Since living in Harrogate, Gill has taken on several voluntary positions and has settled into the town very well.
