Red Kite Alliance Science Competition

This Monday, eight enthusiastic Year 8 students took part in the Red Kite Science Competition, representing Rossett School. This event, hosted by our school alliance at Harrogate Grammar School, showcased our students' prowess in STEM challenges. Among the tasks was the construction of the tallest freestanding tower using only newspapers, and the creation of a boat capable of supporting the most weight made only from two straws and two squares of tin foil.

Demonstrating exceptional teamwork and problem-solving skills, our students left a lasting impression. We are proud that our top team finished on the podium securing a commendable third place. Such achievements reflect the dedication and talent within our school community. In a remarkable show of pride, one student even carried his towering newspaper structure, standing at over seven feet, all the way home. Congratulations to all participants for their outstanding representation of Rossett School!

The talk covered a range of aspects of student life, from budgeting to joining clubs and societies, and learning to cook to managing your time. The second part of the talk covered student finance and the process of how to apply. It was a really informative talk and provided students with practical advice to take forwards on their progression after Year 13.
