Mayor 5New Mayor Visits Rossett

On Wednesday a group of  our Year 8 students had the opportunity to meet the new Mayor of Harrogate - Councillor Stuart Martin.  During the visit, just two days after  he officially took office, the Mayor and his wife April enjoyed a tour of the school before taking part in a Q&A session with the students.  Aside from climate change and the proposed Nidd Gorge bypass, questions from our students also covered what the council are doing in response to local demand for recycling and how local businesses are supported.  The students showed a great interest in the work of the Harrogate Mayor and the other councillors in the district and were invited by the Mayor to visit the Council Chambers to find out more.

Internal Assessments - Years 7 and 8

Year 7 and Year 8 students are about to complete their end of year assessments.  These assessments provide valuable information on each student's progress towards their challenging targets.  These subject assessments will take place during lesson time between 10th and  21st June 2019.  The timetable of when the individual subject assessments will take place, revision materials and details for students and parents of how best to prepare can be found here:

Letters providing further details have also been sent to all parents in Year 7 and Year 8 today and are available on the website here.

UCI World Road Race

UCI2019In September, Harrogate will be hosting the UCI World Road Race.  The cycling begins on Saturday 21st - Sunday 29th September 2019. Harrogate and Rossett area roads and infra structure will be significantly affected as each race finishes with a circuit around Harrogate. We have met with NYCC and UCI race organisers to fully understand the impact that this event will have on our school and local community. A letter has been sent to all parents this week detailing the arrangements and a copy can be found here. Print it and put it on the noticeboard for September and we will send out further information nearer the time.

Year 11 Examination Dress Code

We would like to remind all Year 11 students that full school uniform should be worn throughout the examination period.  No trainers or 'hoodies' are to be worn at school.

Year 8 Summer Spectacular Concert – Wednesday 19 June, 6:30pm - Royal Hall, Harrogate

Students in Year 8 have spent recent weeks learning songs in preparation for our annual Summer Spectacular Concert which is being held at the Royal Hall on Wednesday 19 June. This event, in such a prestigious and grand venue, is always a huge success and we are hoping to raise the roof yet again. The concert will feature all of our musical ensembles as well as performances from two of our partner schools-  Pannal and Saltergate Primaries -  plus a massed choir of Year 8 students. It is a fantastic performance opportunity and we are hoping as many students as possible will take part.

Tickets will be on sale shortly and can be obtained by calling the box office 01423 502116 or by visiting the website http://www.harrogatetheatre.co.uk.   Tickets are priced at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions.  All the seats are numbered so please book early to avoid disappointment.  A letter with further information has been sent to all parents of Year 8 students and a copy can be found here.
