Presentation Evening

Parents and students alike were motivated by the honest and inspiring talk from Simon Weaver, Manager at Harrogate Town Football Club.  His stories of his early beginnings and talent, including the set-backs that he had encountered in his career made us all think Sports Pres eveningabout the importance of a resilient attitude.  It was a real pleasure to celebrate with him Harrogate Town’s recent successes and listen to his philosophy about recruiting young players such as ex-Rossett student Liam Kitching – all of whom exhibit the positive Rossett mindset.

Mr Bradshaw, Director of Sports Studies, welcomed everyone to the event and was ably assisted by Mr Durbin and members of the school music community who provided both entertainment and incidental music to accompany the presentations of medals, certificates and cups to students from our current Years 8 to 11.

European day of languagesEuropean Day of Languages

The European Day of Languages was a huge success with delicacies from our Executive Chef including a tapas bar; playing concours de petanque and handball in PE; a passport challenge in lessons, as well as specialities from European countries being on offer in the dining halls at lunch time.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Congratulations to our Sixth Form for raising over £350 for the Macmillan Cancer charity.  Thank you to everyone who made cakes and supported the event.

Poetic Rapper Visit

On Thursday we welcomed Rob Bradley, a poetic rapper, to Rossett who performed at a Year 7 assembly and held a rap workshop.  The students were entertained and inspired to try a new form of writing, working in our new Learning Resource Centre.

Poetic rapperRossett will be welcoming the parents of Year 6 pupils to listen to a presentation from the Headteacher about the school and our educational philosophy on Thursday 4 October (6.30pm-8.30pm). Parents will also have an opportunity to visit our new Learning Resource Centre to speak to faculties about the curriculum as well as find out about admissions, transport and much more.

This is followed by our Open Day on Saturday 6 October (9.30-12noon); parents and children are invited to meet our students and teachers and see the school in action. A number of exciting activities take place throughout the morning.

Can you help the PTA?

The PTA help at both of our events above and are looking for help with refreshments from 6pm onwards on the Open Evening and from 9am onwards on the Open Day.  We would also appreciate any donations of cakes and biscuits for the Saturday – these can be dropped off at Student Reception on Friday or Saturday morning.
