Year 13 Prom
Our Year 13 students celebrated the end of their A' Level and post-16 examinations and their time at Rossett School at their 'Prom' last night. Hosted this year at 'The Cedar Court Hotel', sixth form staff, teachers and tutors provided a welcome reception for the students who sat down to a two-course meal, danced to the resident DJ, and captured memories of the evening in a fun photo booth provided by our own Mr McKenzie. A fantastic evening was had by all. We wish all of our students every success and happiness in their future endeavours.
Thank you to everyone involved in organising and supporting this event.
'Successful Futures' Year 8 Enterprise Day
On Wednesday, our Year 8 students took part in an enterprise event delivered by Successful Futures - The Trading Game. This activity is a fast-paced, lively, interactive game themed on the Stock Market. The students worked in small teams throughout the whole morning, experiencing what it would be like to be involved working in the stock market. Each team member took on roles such as Portfolio Manager, Finance Manager, Buyer of Shares, Seller of Shares and Information Manager.
All teams had to track the ups and downs of the Stock Market over a simulated period of four days. In that time period they had to decide when to buy or sell shares by using the initial investment budget they were given and taking into account all the different pieces of information about the companies so that they would make a profit. The activities helped them to work on employability skills such as teamwork, communication, problem solving, financial management and leadership. The overwhelming feedback from the students was that they really enjoyed learning about potential future career opportunities, whilst having fun on the day.
