Shoebox Appeal

Over the last few weeks our Year 7 and Year 9 students  have been collecting items to make up a shoebox of gifts to take to children who will be spending the Christmas period on the Woodlands Ward at Harrogate District Hospital.  The aim was to fill one shoebox per form but our fantastic and enthusiastic Year 7 students have exceeded this goal and on Thursday personally delivered the boxes to the ward. A special mention goes to 7JMA for completing three boxes! Thank you to all of our students who donated generously to this cause.

Harrogate Lions Peace Poster Competition

For over three decades, Lions clubs around the globe have been sponsoring an art contest in schools and youth groups. Creating peace posters gives children everywhere the chance to express their visions of peace and inspire the world through art and creativity.  This year's Rossett winner was Monika Molnar with Sarah Walker-Palin coming second. Our students always enjoy creating their entries and received their awards this year from 'Lion' Tom Ilett and 'Lion' Eve Nelson.

Students perform at Heath Lodge Care Home

Residents at Heath Lodge Care Home on Pannal Ash Road were thrilled to receive a visit from Rossett students on Thursday.  They were treated to seasonal performances from our strings ensemble and the flute choir.  George Papadopoullos played a ‘jazzy’ number on his clarinet and a massed choir sang ‘Hark the Herald Angels’ sing.  The afternoon culminated in a sing-a-long for all which was enthusiastically received by all the residents and staff.

Members of the Senior Leadership Team were delighted to serve staff and students their Christmas lunch this week.  Our Catering Team provided a wonderful spread of seasonal food enjoyed by all - the students enjoyed the Christmas music played throughout both lunch sittings - getting everyone in the festive spirit!

Sean Wilson visitRossett Alumni Visit

On Thursday, Sean Wilson made a return visit to Rossett to catch-up with staff and students who were very interested in hearing about his time at Cambridge University where he is studying medicine.  Sean's first term has been spent completely focussed on his studies.  Students at Cambridge are actively discouraged from taking part-time work to ensure success in their studies.  Sean has been working hard to prepare for his first set of examinations after Christmas and has promised to visit again in the New Year.

We also offer a Babysitting course for 13-16 year olds, led by Mrs Rogers (our own First Aid Health Manager) who is also a serving officer of the Order of St John, and a qualified First Aider. It’s a fun and informative course run from 18.30pm-20.00pm from Monday 13th January for 6 weeks and only costs £30. It’s a great way to up-skill your teenager, and give them  the confidence to look after small children. It covers everything from the rights of the baby-sitter, first-aid emergencies, and how to change nappies.
