Rossett News Update - 14th February 2020

Ski Trip Departs

The 2020 Rossett School ski trip departed for Italy in the early hours of this morning and will be skiing in the Val Di Fiemme resort in the Trentino region.  They will be using Twitter to keep us up-to-date with their activities throughout the week; follow them @Rossett and #Rski20, for day-to-day highlights.

Email Notifications

As a school we have been looking at clarifying the use of email as a means of communication for staff, students and parents.  After half term, parents may notice a footer showing on our emails  The details contained in the 'footer' will clarify when staff can respond to any queries or communications from parents.  The aim of this change is to increase the efficiency of our communications.

Year 9 Meningitis and Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio

On Monday 24th February our Year 9 students will be receiving the MenACWY vaccine which helps to protect against Meningitis and Septicaemia, and the DTP booster which helps to protect against Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio.

Any parents/carers who have not already completed their consent form  should go to www.hdft.nhs.uk/year9form, enter the School Code 136896 and click “Find School” and then complete the form. Once submitted, if you provide a valid email address, you will receive an automatic confirmation email.

Coronavirus Advice

All schools have received advice from the Department of Education (DfE) regarding the Coronavirus.  The latest information can be found at:

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/wuhan-novel-coronavirus-information-for-the-public.

In brief, the DfE has advised that you should not be unduly worried about the possibility of  children catching the Coronavirus and there is no reason why your children should not continue to attend school as normal.  The DfE recognise that some families or children  may be planning to travel to China during the forthcoming half term period.  If so, the advice is to  refer to the Foreign & Commonwealth Office's  latest travel advice via the link above.

In addition to the DfE advice, we have included the current NHS guidance in relation to the Coronavirus:

https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

As we reported on 31st January, we have purchased extra hand-sanitiser units for students, staff and visitors to combat the winter bugs, coughs and colds.  These are available in shared spaces around the school.

We would  specifically like to thank:

  • Mr Lee, Mrs McFarlane and Mr Phillips  for the fantastic quiz questions.
