Careers Fair 2024
This week all of our students have had the opportunity to attend our annual Careers Fair.
On Wednesday morning, we had more than 40 exhibitors attend, ranging from local businesses to a range of Universities. This gave the students lots of opportunities to find out about the world of work and the different career pathways available to them.
There was a real buzz throughout the event as students took the opportunity to engage in lots of conversations with our visitors. Many students were keen to feedback what they had learned, and some were even able to discuss potential work experience opportunities.
LEAP Young Entrepreneurs Challenge
Congratulations to our Year 9 team of four girls (Lottie, Ava, Esme, and Anna), who competed in the Yorkshire LEAP Young Entrepreneurs Challenge competition. Our team won the competition, demonstrating skills in sales and marketing, problem solving, finance and production with their Hot Potato Hand Heaters.
The result was announced at the prestigious Yorkshire Business Awards on Friday 6th December and the prize was awarded by Sara Davies (from Dragon's Den). All profits from their sales of the hand heaters have gone to the Yorkshire Children's Charity.
Well done, this is an amazing achievement!
Winter Warmer Christmas Concert
Last night's Winter Warmer went down a treat and left everyone feeling festive and ready for Christmas.
Thank you to Mr Durbin for organising another successful evening, and to Mr Elcock, our resident emcee.
We are so proud of all the students who took part, they put in a huge amount of effort rehearsing and preparing and it really paid off. What a talented bunch they are.
Year 10 and 11 Drama Trip
Last week, our Year 10 & 11 GCSE Drama students watched a brilliant performance of their set text, Blood Brothers, at the Leeds Grand Theatre. They represented Rossett so well and were very respectful to their fellow theatregoers.
Yorkshire to Ukraine - Thank You
Thank you to everyone who donated items for our Yorkshire to Ukraine campaign. Miss Rogers and the first aid team loaded everything onto a trailer and it will soon be shipped to Ukraine.

Heart of the Community Campaign
Our Heart of the Community fundraising campaign is in full swing, thank you to everyone who has donated in some way so far.
Thursday's cake stall was a big success and raised £80 for the Yorkshire Ambulance Service Charity's Restart a Heart campaign, Christmas raffle tickets are selling thick and fast and we have already raised £350 on our Go Fund Me page.
As you know, we are raising funds to purchase a defibrillator and two outdoor cabinets for our community. These essential items will provide 24/7 life-saving assistance in emergencies. We aim to cover both sides of our school site (the main front of school gate and the sports hall car park area), where many teams play after school and on weekends.
We would also like to fund some free to access courses as part of our community education.
Any additional funds will be used to purchase more lifesaving first aid training equipment, including resuscitation dolls, for use by Rossett School students and Rossett Adult Education, towards the maintenance and upkeep of the defibrillator cabinets and contents, and towards the Yorkshire Ambulance Service Charity's Restart a Heart campaign and St John Ambulance.
We hope to become the first school to achieve a Yorkshire Ambulance Service Heart of the Community GOLD Award so please show your support by donating raffle prizes (such as sweets, biscuits, toiletries, or anything that you would like to win yourself!) or donating via our Go Fund Me campaign if you can.

Invacuation Drill
You will no doubt be aware that students and staff were involved in our first invacuation drill yesterday which was done in social time. The drill went very smoothly with students reacting in an ordered and disciplined manner which is a credit to them. Their response was instrumental in the speed in which every student found a place of safety.
We are aware how stressful this can be for students, however, please be assured that we had presentations in assemblies and staff were available to offer support when it was needed.
Last Day of Term
Please remember that school will close at 2.15pm on the last day of term, Friday 20th December. The bus companies are aware.
