ROSSETT NEWS UPDATE - 10 JAN 2025

Happy New Year!

We were delighted to welcome back staff and students yesterday and today after being forced to close for the first few days of the new term.

Over the past two days, our students have been fantastic.  They have really demonstrated the Rossett Rs by respectfully and responsibly following safety notices and instructions, and being ready and resilient in getting back to their learning.

We look forward to getting back to some kind of normal next week, weather permitting, and will provide an update first thing on Monday morning via the website and Facebook.

All students arriving to school on foot should continue to use the Green Lane entrance as this is the safest route into the building.  The condition of the Sports Centre car park should have improved by next week but only for drop offs and pick ups as the footpaths are unsafe.  If students are dropped off there, they should enter the site through the bottom gates.  Please continue to use the Green Lane entrance where possible.  All students should head straight to the blue dining hall before morning registration.  The Hunter, Music and Drama blocks will remain closed and all lessons will take place in the main building for the time being.

Students should continue to wear sensible footwear to school. We would also continue to advise students to wear a coat but no hoodies please.

Huge thanks to our incredible site team for the amazing job they have done this week in clearing our site and helping us prepare for the safe return of both staff and students.  As you can see from the photos below, the site team were faced with a big challenge but they worked so hard all week and even managed to keep smiling!

Thank You to Our Families

Thank you again to our families for their support and patience this week as we navigated the tricky weather.

We received so many positive messages from our parents which gave us all a boost during the cold days, here is some of the feedback:

"I just want to say thank you to you and all the staff who are trying to get our lovely school open. We appreciate your concern for keeping the children and staff safe as all parents should understand that safety is always the first priority."

"I just wanted to message you and thank you for doing all you can trying to get the school open. I understand regardless if you open or close you'll upset someone. We as a family really appreciate your efforts both keeping the school closed but doing your best to open and provide home learning."

"Our daughter has been involved in the excellent online remote learning provided today and I just wanted to say a massive thank you to you and all the staff for putting the welfare of the children first and doing your very best under unusual start of term challenges."

Supporting Children in the Return to School

For some children, the return to school at the end of the school holidays can be a difficult time for many reasons. The start of the new term comes with plenty of challenges, from social worries to the stress of ensuring they’re ready for upcoming lessons and learning.

Click here for some expert advice from Wake Up Wednesday on how you can be there for children and young people as they transition back into their school’s routine.

Restart a Heart Campaign - Thank You to the Beckwithshaw Saints Junior Football Club

We are incredibly grateful to the Beckwithshaw Saints Junior Football Club for their huge donation of £500 towards our Restart a Heart Campaign.  This is a massive contribution towards providing 24/7 access to life saving equipment for our local community.  Thank you!

If you would like to donate, you can do so directly to school, like BSJFC, or via our Go Fund Me page here.

Meeting Mickey Mouse

Next week, our Year 12 Business Studies students will embark on an exciting two-night trip to Disneyland Paris.

The trip will offer a combination of fun and educational opportunities, where students will have the chance to apply the business concepts they've been learning in the classroom to the real-world operations of one of the most successful global companies.

Mr Milburn is looking forward to accompanying them!
