Setting
Thirty two buses come in and out of Rossett School on a daily basis. For many students, the journey to school on a bus is an integral part of the school day. The behaviour of the majority of pupils travelling on buses is generally good, but on occasions the behaviour of a minority is unacceptable.
Rossett School expects that its pupils can travel in reasonable safety and comfort, arriving at school without undue stress, and be able to benefit from the education provided.
Working closely with our feeder bus companies, we expect the following behaviour from our students:-
Pupils and their parents are primarily responsible for dealing with anti-social behaviour on transport to school. Deliberate damage to a bus will lead to parents having to pay the bill. The bus company is then likely to ban the student(s) from using any of their buses. Bus companies are applying a zero tolerance attitude. If a student does something major, they will simply be banned from the bus. The bans maybe permanent and there is no rights to appeal.
The Government Exclusion Guidelines state categorically that a school can apply it’s Code of Discipline to students travelling to and from school. The school can also punish poor behaviour on the buses.
If you have any issues on your bus, whether it is that you are unable to get a seat, being bullied, your bus pass is in poor condition, etc. then please speak to Mr Lawton. He will ensure that matters are fully investigated on your behalf. If you witness any poor behaviour on the bus then it is your duty to speak out.
