Proposed Industrial Action - Wednesday 30 November 2011

You may be aware from the national press that the three major teaching unions have given notice that they will be taking industrial action on Wednesday 30 November. The strike is not against the school but as part of national industrial action organised by these trade unions in relation to changes to the pension schemes of their members.

Given the numbers of teachers we expect to be involved in the action, the school cannot safely operate next Wednesday if the strike goes ahead. The school will therefore be closed during the day for all students except for Adult Education classes run by Extended Schools which will remain open.

There is still a possibility that these arrangements may change again as a result of potential developments in the dispute so please look out for further messages from school via email and on the website.

Morrisons 'Let's Grow' 2011

Rossett is participating in the Morrisons 'Let's Grow' 2011 voucher scheme and there is a collection box on Reception. Your help in collecting would be much appreciated; last year the equipment we purchased really made a difference

Data Protection fair processing: Privacy Notices autumn term 2010

The Data Protection Act 1998 put in place numerous safeguards regarding the use of personal data by organisations, including the Department for Education, local authorities and schools. This area of law is complex. The Act gives rights to those about whom data is held (known as data subjects) including:
• the right to know the types of data being held
• why it is being held, and
• to whom it may be communicated.
Privacy Notices (formerly “Fair Processing Notices”) are designed to meet those needs of the Act and are brought to the attention of all pupils for whom data is being submitted in the School Census.

The process of issuing Privacy Notices was revised in 2009, with a single, short and easily understandable Privacy Notice which includes web addresses for further details of how data is used and shared. This means that Privacy Notices do not need reissuing on an annual basis.

In 2010 the model Privacy Notice has been updated to reflect the new Department for Education (DfE) name change and contact details only (please click here to view the updated version).
