Pen Pal Exchange
Spanish students in Year 9 are enthusiastically participating in a Pen Pal Exchange with students at Las Villuercas High School in Guadalupe, Spain. Organised by their Spanish teacher, Miss Ramiro-Fernandez, students have exchanged letters and videos describing their lives, family and hobbies as well as some of the important traditions they each celebrate, including local history and traditions. This is a fantastic way to encourage writing and reading skills in the subject whilst improving knowledge in European culture. The Spanish students have sent a picture of themselves enjoying their letter writing and we hope to reciprocate with our own in the coming weeks.
Year 8 Summer Spectacular Concert – Wednesday 19 June, 6:30pm - Royal Hall, Harrogate
Students in Year 8 have spent recent weeks learning songs in preparation for our annual Summer Spectacular Concert which is being held at the Royal Hall on Wednesday 19 June. This event, in such a prestigious and grand venue, is always a huge success and we are hoping to raise the roof yet again. The concert will feature all of our musical ensembles as well as performances from two of our partner schools, Pannal and Saltergate Primary, plus a massed choir of Year 8 students. It is a fantastic performance opportunity and we are hoping as many students as possible will take part.
Tickets will be on sale shortly and can be obtained by calling the box office 01423 502116 or by visiting the website http://www.harrogatetheatre.co.uk. Tickets are priced at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions. All the seats are numbered so please book early to avoid disappointment. A letter with further information has been sent to all parents of Year 8 students and can be found here.
Co-Curricular Clubs
We have a packed co-curricular timetable to involve our students in activities outside of lesson time, encouraging new friendships and a healthy lifestyle. The summer co-curricular programme includes new clubs and activities including rounders, softball and squash and is available here. Please encourage your child to get involved in these co-curricular activities.
