Rossett News Update – 5 May 2017
For the last year the school has been registered with the Teacher Development Trust Network (an independent charity, funded by teachers, dedicated to improving the educational outcomes of children by ensuring that they experience effective learning).
In short the TDT believes in and supports CPD that is based on external, international research that informs practice in the classroom.
Here at Rossett this has meant that all staff, including the Senior Leadership Team, have been researching what makes the greatest impact on the students’ learning in their individual classrooms and then changing and evaluating their teaching anew. Great action research ideas have been exchanged between teachers and faculties and everyone has written up their ‘research projects’ to share with all staff at Rossett.
TDT CPD Quality Audit
We were recently assessed through a rigorous audit process and were aiming to achieve a Bronze award in our first year of the scheme. We were pleased to hear after Easter that we have actually been awarded the Silver Award for our work in Year 1 of this project.
Congratulations to …
- the Year 7 boys’ cricket team who played St Olaves/St Peters in York this week. St Olaves/St Peters scored 170 runs – the biggest total their coach had ever seen in school cricket! In reply we lost two wickets for no runs in the first two overs but then Jack Myers came into bat and scored 52 against probably the best team in the county. The Year 7s eventually scored 140 runs which was also a great achievement.
- The Year 9 boys’ cricket team who played a Yorkshire Cup fixture against St John Fisher at Harrogate CC this week and came out victorious by 42 runs.
The second HPV injections for Year 8 girls will take place on Wednesday morning 8 May. The team of nurses will also catch-up with any booster/MenACWY vaccines that are outstanding from their last session.
