Rossett News Update – 28 April 2017
This has been a difficult week for the community at Rossett. We were shocked and saddened to hear the news that Mr Mervyn Wilson, Teacher of Art at the school, had died as the result of a tragic accident, whilst on holiday.
We are a close community of students, staff and friends and I am proud to say that the support that everyone has shown for each other this week has been humbling to witness.
Our thoughts are very much with Mr Wilson’s wife, family and friends at this time.

University of Leeds Higher Education Experience Day
This week forty Year 9 and 10 students attended the Higher Education Experience Day at Leeds University. The students were able to experience university life and speak to current undergraduate students including a former Rossett student, Lydia Valentine, who is studying English Literature.
The students had a full tour of the campus, a talk on the opportunities available at university and were set the challenge of designing and promoting a new university society. The day ended with an informative Q&A session with the undergraduate students who shared their personal experiences. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day and the students were a credit to the school.
We are currently waiting to upgrade our catering machine to accommodate the new currency changes. To avoid queues at the Finance Office we recommend that parents sign up to our online payment system – currently over 70% of parents use this to place money on students’ lunch accounts.
Please contact the Finance Office on 01423 564444 for a link code.
It has been brought to our attention that some parents and students are using ‘my school holidays.com’ to find out term dates. This website is not linked to the school and cannot be guaranteed to hold the correct information. Rossett’s term dates are available on our website: http://www.rossettschool.co.uk/parents/calendar/
