Rossett News Update – 8 June 2018

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

Under the new legislation the school is required to update our consents from parents regarding Communications, Photos & Videos and Biometrics Data – thank you to all parents who have completed the consent form.  Please can I ask any parents who haven’t yet done so to complete the consent form by clicking on the link as soon as possible (the password is contained in the email sent to parents regarding GDPR sent on Wednesday 23 May).  This will ensure that we can continue to provide parents with information and services as we currently do: http://www.rossettschool.co.uk/consent/.  The form will only take seconds to complete.

Thank you.

Growing up in North Yorkshire Survey 2018

The North Yorkshire Children and Young People’s Service (CYPS) has again commissioned a confidential survey of children and young people in the area covering aspects of learning, safety and well-being.  This will provide key information about the lifestyles and learning of children and young people; this information influences school, county and locality planning and the evaluation of provision.  Our Year 8 and 10 students will be taking part in this survey in the next few weeks.  Further details have been emailed to parents.

We are delighted that our LGBTQ+ group have been invited to represent our school as part of the Pride in Diversity parade taking place in Harrogate again this year. The Pride in Diversity team are running a week of events to raise awareness and to celebrate the diverse community here in Harrogate.  This year, the parade will take place on 16 June commencing at midday in the centre of Harrogate followed by a range of activities taking place in Valley Gardens.

Yorkshire Water – Road closures around the Rossett area

Yorkshire Water have informed the school that the road closure at the junction of Otley Road and Beckwith Road will continue probably for a further two weeks due to construction difficulties.  They have also started on the second phase of work on Beckwith Road between Otley Road and Pannal Ash roundabout and there will be a rolling road closure as they complete their work.  There will be signed local diversions for approximately nine weeks.  They apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Lunchtime arrangements

The school will be moving back to split lunchtimes next Wednesday 13 June.  Years 7 and 8 will be on early lunch (12.25-1.10pm) and Year 9 will move to late lunch with Year 10 and 12 on late lunch (1.25-2.10pm).  Thank you to students and parents for their support and patience with this adjustment during the exam season.
