Rossett News Update – 2 February 2018
Reminder: Sixth Form Interviews
Our Year 11 Sixth Form interviews take place in this next week5 –19 February. Our students will have the opportunity to discuss their A Level subject choices with senior staff and formal offer letters will be issued to students after the interview process has been completed.
Year 9s enjoyed a very successful two day trip to Marrick Priory last week taking part in a variety of activities which promoted resilience and resourcefulness! Their skills were developed as part of a pastoral programme to highlight the importance of teamwork.
A Level English Language Trip
Next Tuesday, twenty of our A Level English Language students will be attending a lecture by the nationally renowned linguist David Crystal, writer, editor, lecturer, and broadcaster. Students will gain considerable academic benefit from this event, as David will be speaking about two linguistic areas that have a strong bearing on the new content of the A Level syllabus.
Lepra – fighting disease, poverty and prejudice
Each year Rossett support Lepra, a UK registered international charity working with individuals and communities affected by some of the world’s oldest and most neglected diseases, including leprosy. Representatives of the charity have attended a Year 7 assembly to give students information about the charity and the work they do. Students were given the following facts and were encouraged to raise as much as possible by taking part in a variety of activities culminating in a Zumba workout next Wednesday:
- £3 buys a self-care kit so individuals can care for their disability
- £4.50 can buy a pair of shoes so they can walk again
- £25 can run a health education programme in a school reaching 100 children
- £30 can pay for a medical diagnosis with aftercare
- £50 can give someone a course of physiotherapy to restore the function in their hand/foot
